SAM Performs: "Timber" at the Seattle Art Museum
Seattle Art Museum: OLYMPIC SCULPTURE PARK at the GATES AMPHITHEATER, Seattle, WA
Math rock meets sound bath in this performance of Timber, a 65-minute tour-de-force scored for six virtuosic percussionists on tuned 2x4s, at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Listen to this world-famous composition as you enjoy the art in the park on a fall day.
Written by acclaimed American composer Michael Gordon, Timber is currently being played by ensembles everywhere in celebration of its 10th anniversary. This iteration features specially designed lights by local designer Kevin Blanquies, beautiful instruments built by local master carpenter Isaac Anderson, and the unstoppable talent of six local percussionists.
Timber will be performed twice throughout the day at 1 and 5 pm.
